In the book to Kill A Mockingbird they show racism toward all African Americans in the book. In life today things are still the same but aren't as bad. Women are supposed to be one way while a man is the other. That is just how they were brought up. “I was not so sure, but Jem told me I was being a girl, that girls always imagined things, that's why other people hated them so, and if I started behaving like one I could just go off and find some to play with” (Page 119). This shows that women were looked at to always use their imagination and never do hard work. They were treated very very different from the men.
Today you can find both of these inequalities. Today women usually clean and cook along with taking care of the children. There is some racism in our country but not as bad as it was when To Kill A Mockingbird takes place. You still see people making fun of others for there skin color. You can still hear the N word floating around in today's society.
Altogether I can see the difference between today's world and the world in the 1930’s. Although not everyone is being treated the same we are still coming along ways from where we were in the 30’s. Some of these inequalities may stay but maybe it's for the better. I really enjoyed this book and I learned a lot about the 1930’s and how people really treated
