Literature Review: Social life in the new millennium has been represented by instant connection to others through mobiles. Despite the benefits of remote easy connection, the number of fatalities associated with sending text messages while driving open up a darker side of communication and cellphones. The estimates distributed through The Center for Disease Control shows that 31% of adult driver’s text while driving. Regardless of numerous awareness raising campaigns, increase of strict laws, research provides facts of cognitive challenges and consequences. While the frequency of talking on the phone was interchangeably related to the likelihood of texting while driving, people who talk on their mobiles while driving are more likely to text while driving. Therefore, these two studies are inversely related. Researchers also found that positive association between internet use on the mobile and texting while driving shows that multiplexing may not limit to texting and talking. Texting and driving is dangerous social phenomenon. The study provides evidence that behaviors are sociocultural norms in social life.
