Register to read the introduction… Most humans who become involved in trafficking are tricked into it. They are women or children who come from very poor families. Someone who is wealthy sees how poor they are and takes advantage of them. They offer the poor woman or child a job as a maid or a salesperson then take them away to some brothel or bar to work as a slave. There are also families where, if the family is poor enough and they have enough children, they will sell some of their younger children to get money to live. Government poverty also has an effect on human trafficking. When a government doesn’t have enough money; that government will make budget cuts. In a lot of countries, the government chooses to cut jobs that they pay people to do. Some of the jobs they cut are those of police officers. With less police officers on the streets, there are less people to keep criminals in line. With less people doing that, criminals and human traffickers can get away with pretty much anything they …show more content…
She turned out to be right. As Bolkovac investigated deeper, more and more Bosnian investigators and sex trafficking victims came forward with what they knew. The evidence suggested that American and other international contractors were having sex with underage trafficking victims or even buying them outright. Some of the men weren’t even hiding it.
It was increasingly difficult for anything to get done about this because the corruption was so far up. When she wrote reports to her superiors, either they were ignored or dismissed as solved although the details of the solution were never shared with her. She and fellow members of the international peace core were effectively free from prosecution. Eventually Bolkovac was fired for her in depth investigations.
Political corruption is a terrible thing. You can’t trust the people who are supposed to keep you safe because they are the ones who are participating in the crime. Those that aren’t part of the crime wont report it for fear that they will tell the wrong person and get fired. And the legislature will not do anything about it because they’re involved in the crime

A common misconception of human trafficking is that it is same or very similar to smuggling. Those who are “smuggled” into a country are doing so by their own free will, without coercion. Human trafficking victims don’t have to be shipped anywhere internationally to still be “trafficked”. Since they are being captured or coerced into slavery, it is against their free will, therefore wildly different from smuggling. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service, Human trafficking is a “criminal business that profits from enslaving people for sexual servitude and forced labor.”…

Police misconduct is when an officer violates, to some degree, the department handbook, the law of the land, or anything that might have to do with constitutional rights. The way a police agency’s police officers perform their duty or do not perform their duty may influence the way that particular agency is observed and how they are thought of in that community. An example of this is that children often work for people who pay them less than ten dollars a day. This pay is not something one can live off of yet the employees have to stay. The problem is still around because in Mexico physical and sexual abuse is common; resulting in Mexicans wanting to seek better and safer living conditions. A noticeable promoter of the persistence of human trafficking is that when someone gets sick in a place like Mexico the health care system may not be in place or able to do anything, this is when a trafficker would tell that family that if the sick one came with him he would get medical treatment. Lastly, the biggest cause for human trafficking is demand.…
