What exactly is a social imaginary? A social imaginary can be defined as the interpretive understanding of the world, what a good life looks like, and how we can attain it. A Social imaginary encompasses the creative and meaningful dimensions of the real world, the dimensions through which people in our society create their ways of living and the rules by which they live on earth. Growing up in an African American household, my parents taught me that life is tough and I would have to work two times harder than my competition to achieve success and be the best human being I can possibly be given my potential. I view the world we live in as a survival of the fittest type of environment which has shaped my social imaginary. My imagination of a good life is being …show more content…
Being at peace with my parents, having health, and having a survival of the fittest mentality are comprised my social imaginary. The journey that I have embarked on isn’t an easy one and will be very difficult and challenging just like Dante’s. There are going to be times in life where I’d feel tested on my hope and will to keep pushing even when it feels like there isn’t a solution. Hope is what I hold on to throughout this journey. It helps me see the good things in our crazy world. When tragic things happen to people, we tend to feel devastated and crushed asking God for answers to why such things happen to good people. Hope doesn’t only console me in times of hardship. I use hope as a motivating factor and uplift and believe that there is more good things God has for me. Hope helps me to keep battling back, stay resilient and increases my chances of making life better for me and making good choices. It can get really hard to keep up with my internal faith during the hard times, but, I believe that if I never let go of hope, I will make it to the
