Abortion is a selfish act that should not be allowed, it’s unethical and should be illegal because you are terminating the life of a human being which is considered murder. Abortion should only be allowed under certain medical circumstances for instance, if the life of the mother is at risk. Abortion is the removal of a fetus or embryo from the mother’s womb. By 2013 after 40 years of legalized abortion, and with at least a million abortions on average a year, American women had aborted at least 40 million fetuses (Pence 2014). When it comes to abortion, there is no discrimination, all sorts of races, religions and class practice or condone abortion. About 22 percent of pregnancies end in abortion. The mother of the fetus allows the pregnancy to happen. Most women who decide they are going to get an abortion will go ahead with the process. There are many reasons why women choose to abort like not being able to afford a child, no emotional support, and being a rape victim to name a few. Abortion does not heal a rape victim it’s just an attack on another human. The one who needs to be punished is the rapist. Society also plays a major role in abortion. Some of society’s issues that can lead to abortion is lack of sexual education, single parenting, and no economic support especially for young women. I believe that if a woman is able to consent, sexual intercourse, she must be ready for the consequences that come along with that. Women should be able to control their own body and I agree, but a women is also able to say no to sexual intercourse, or be smart enough to use some type of contraceptive they are also able to recognize right from wrong. One great choice is adoption, which gives a chance to someone that wants to have a family to be able to do so. A baby should not be held accountable for anyone 's actions, therefore I believe that they should be allowed life just like you and I. An unborn child is helpless and innocent, and we still purposely decided that it’s okay to just end their entire life. The 14th amendment states that it is essential for every man or human being to be equal in regard to the basic right to life (Brown, 2014).
