This implies that older individuals need to pull back themselves from society yet not to a degree where they are totally isolated or they will find it difficult to communicate with anybody. However, according to this hypothesis, older people need to be educated in order for them not to fall into bad attitudes and habits that will totally disengage them from society. According to this hypothesis if elderly totally disengage from society this can have an eventual outcome on their mental and physical abilities of improvement or development. Physically, because Cyril is actively engaged he might develop some new skills and hobbies that will improve his physical health and well-being. However, he will be able to participate in physical activities because of his physical well-being. He could also participate in some courses that involves swimming, sport and maybe gymnastic. The benefits of these courses would allow Cyril to get out and socialize with people around the world especially when he is a famous man. Intellectually, because the activity hypothesis talks about being active engage, this theory can relate to Cyril intellectual development because this will help his mind set. As he is actively engaged his mental ability will increase because he is doing courses in relation to his swimming and his ways of thinking will also increase because he may have the capacity to takes care of basic issues. Also, according to activity hypothesis, has Cyril is actively engaged now his best bits of growing older will widen his knowledge about things around him.
