Due to his love of dogs, something he is passionate about, Christopher decides to be bold and courageous to confront people to find out what was the true fate of Wellington. As a result, he defies his father even with good reason stating that “I’m going to find out who killed Wellington.” This initial choice to begin searching for answers gives Christopher more than he asks for, finding out many dark secrets hidden by his father. In addition, it opens his eyes to more social interactions. During the search to find suspects, Christopher meets many new people and becomes much more open to social interactions. One of these interactions was talking to his neighbour, Mrs. Alexander. At first, he was very nervous, but due being a “Super Good Day”, he chooses to talk to her, believing that, “It was possible that talking to Mrs. Alexander was he special thing that would happen.”During his interactions with her, he not only finds out more about the murder of Wellington, but also made a new friend who understood him and enjoyed his company, showing the rewards of being confident. Because of Christopher’s meddling around the neighbourhood, his father restrains him from searching, most likely afraid that Christopher would find the truth. However, due to his social disability many interactions with the outside world were tough and overwhelming, just like life. Yet, when needing a place to stay after leaving his father, Christopher chooses to go to London to live with his mother stating “Which meant that I had to go to London to live with Mother.” Even when faced with a tough decision, Christopher makes the right one, regardless of uncertainty and fear as the decision he made was the right one. He knew that living with his mother was the only choice that was suitable even if it meant going out of his comfort zone to travel all the way to London. During the trip, Christopher came across a very strong, unpleasant feeling. He “felt like I felt like when I had a flu and had to stay in bed all day and all of me hurt and I couldn't walk or eat or go to sleep or do maths.”(Hadden 176). This shows the pain and suffering that Christopher is feeling at the moment being alone and lost in a train. Nevertheless, he still chooses to go on knowing well that turning back will serve no purpose as it will only strain the relationship between his father and him even more. Also, this scene shows the strength of Christopher, as he continues to go on to live with his mother knowing he cannot go back to his father. With this, he resumes his relationship with his mother finally
