Social devolvement is an important factor in an individual’s life, whether it is with their career, family, friends, health, etc. Having strong social skills will allow one to advance in their life. I have chosen to focus my social behavior to be my focus of improvement. There are times when I face anxiety when speaking to an individual one on one. However, I am more confident in a group setting. With the career path, I am seeking I will have to be able to achieve a level of intimacy with my clients to build trust. I know if I cannot properly speak with a person one on one I will not be as successful as I can in my career.

According to the Transtheoretical Behavior Model, I am in the preparation phase. Daily I make small steps to improve my social behavior. I try to notice when I fail at properly explain things, I work on ways to improve my anxiety and I am prospecting my social network. I know I am in the preparation phase because I am taking small actions but I have not fully engaged my efforts to make drastic changes.

One process that is going to help my social behavior development is within the cognitive process; consciousness raising. When I am able to identify the issues that are causing my anxiety, improper communication, lack of knowledge of individuals cultures I will use them to my advantage. After, identifying problematic areas I will research ways to improve. Furthermore, when an individual understands their mistakes they become more conscious of the issues and will neglect the problem (which is a benefit). The second process comes from the behavioral process; stimulus control. By removing actions that trigger my anxiety it will allow reconstructing the way I deliver my social skill. Blocking out the problems allows for the ability to develop ideal social behaviors. By taking these two actions I will gain the asset that I have lacked for some
