Physical Development Case Study

John is twenty- months old, and a caregiver takes care of him during the weekdays for around nine hours a day. Today, we analyze the results of his study to see if his development is in the right way according to his age. First, his physical development reveals that his fine and large motor skill are normal because he is able to hold a folk for himself and walks across a line including his interest for toilet training. However, his weight and height are above average because a 24 month’s boy is 24.8-28.8 in weight and 33.8-35.4 height. Second, his emotional development shows that he needs the attention of his caregiver to feel secure all the time because he shows fears when others get next to him. He does have a strong attachment with his caregiver …show more content…
However, the strategies should help John inside and outside the center including his daily life. We should emphasize more in the areas of development where John is too weak to strength it, and where John has the strength then to reinforce it. In the physical development: his fine motor skills will be activities where he uses his hands to increase his movement to manipulate things and his coordination, and with his gross motor skill will be activities where he uses all his body to get more balance mobility. For his emotional development will be activities where he expresses his emotions and feelings, the activities should help him to redirect his attitude and behavior. John will comprehend that showing his feelings are normal does not matter if it is in a positive or a negative way. For social development will be activities that include his classmates, he will able to interact and resolve the conflicts for himself without the necessity that his caregiver will be there. In his cognitive development will be activities that represent a challenge to him because he has already the necessary tools and knowledge to go ahead. His learning skills are fine because as a caregiver, we already know how the way he learns …show more content…
The different areas in a classroom give me the opportunity to set up materials that not only help with one area of his development if no include one more. The materials should fit well with the activities to give me the result that I expect each child can learn. In the case of John, I need to pay careful attention in the weakness to use the right strategies and materials to John gets the idea of what are the results that I expect from him. To reinforce his fine motor skills, I set up puzzles, play dough, blocks, different textures materials, and for his large motor skills, I use different size of balls, a small playground, and stairs. In his cognitive development, I set up numbers, colors, toys with different sounds, songs. In his learning skill, I use small and big books with more pictures, pictures showing the step to wash his hands, teeth. I will introduce new words when I explain the activities. The fine motor skills, gross motor skills, cognitive, and learning skill are the areas that I need to reinforce to John and work with him to go one step ahead. He requires certain challenges to no get bored easy and enjoys his environment including the activities. The areas where John requires more my attention are emotional and social because he does not have the capacity and knowledge to deals with others in the center that are around him.
