Social Determinants In Health Care

It is critical that health professionals understand health factors contributing to a person’s health in the health care practice, as a person’s health is affected by many factors or social determinants. These social determinants are Housing, Income, and Environment. Also it’s beneficial and important for an individual to understand or have knowledge about these factors to allow them to make worthy decisions about their health or have an acceptable health behaviors. Therefore the physical environment has an influence on the way people live their lives and on their health. The physical environment is nature of environment, how it is built, employment ability, and a home environment. A human health is determined by the physical, biological, chemical, and social state of life. However as we approach the environment there is much changing frequently climate change and global warming. Climate change can be natural or can be caused by changes people have made to the land or temperature. Natural climate change can be natural disaster such as, an increasing rise in sea levels and increasing rainfall patterns. Climate change which are likely to affect the supply of fresh water and can cause floods which can increase the spread of water born disease such as malaria. The human activities that triggers climate change are Air pollution and the burning of fossil fuels, wood, and smoke. E.g. a person working in the mines or construction could develop early deafness due to noise or if in contact with hazardous chemical they could be at a higher risk of cancer.
