Social construction emphasizes the process through which concepts and beliefs about the world are formed (and reformed) and through which meanings are attached to things and events (2009). One thing that is socially constructed in both negative and positive ways in the United States is marijuana. On one side of the issue, marijuana is allowed in some states to be used for recreational purposes, like California and more recently Colorado, while in others you can be fined for the use of it, for an example New York. As a whole, I think society is starting to become more open to the idea of legalizing marijuana. I think the upcoming generalizations are more open and accepting and that makes a huge difference in it as well. Where as older generations
