The social construction of gender in my personal terms means that gender is constructed by society. I define gender as the internalized gender expectations of a society. Gender construction as defined by the text are, “-the many different processes as which the expectations associated with being a boy or a girl are passed on through society,” (Andersen 2015.) Women started working towards feminism when they wanted to prove that the inferiority of women was not an innate or biological trait. The social construction of gender is influenced by society and the social influences keep women in a subordinate role.
