Social Class Worksheet Part A: Select three (3) of the class-related terms indicated in the online module and research them on the Internet. A simple google or Wikipedia search should help you to learn more information about the term itself. In your own words, write a one-paragraph summary for each term. Explain what the product is, how it works, and any other information you gleaned from your search. 1. Beamer is a vehicle manufactured by the company BMW. I discovered that this word is actually an incorrect term for the car since it should be spelled “bimmer”. When the company BMW first began manufacturing they were known for motorcycles. BMW 's were referred to as beamers while the BSA 's were referred to as beesers. Therefore, when the first BMW cars were released, people decided to come up with a slang word to differentiate the car and the motorcycle that word became known as bimmer instead of beamer. But over time people began using beamer to reference both.
2. Silent butler- According to the dictionary a silent butler is a “a receptacle with hinged lid for collecting table crumbs and the contents of ashtrays”. Back in the 40’s higher class society would utilize it to clean ashes however it is now usually utilized for crumbs. They were generally cheap back then but now they can be …show more content…
