Present time is comparable to ancient history because of how our families are divided, just like the caste system. A person of today’s high class is most likely not going to be seen in the neighborhood of a low class community. That same person would not lower their standards and marry someone of the lower class after being raised to live the life they currently do. Each class also hold different ranking jobs. For example, a high class individual might be a lawyer or a doctor, someone that owns their own practice and makes their own hours. A person belonging to the middle class could be a dental hygienist or supervisor of a company, having to work forty hours a week with possible overtime. Those of the lower class might hold a job as a cashier at a food store, possibly living paycheck to paycheck hoping they have enough money for food and rent. After working until late down by the river he decided to stay overnight but didn’t have any food to eat. Nearby were Brahmins who told him to cook in a pot that was found and previously used by Sudras. Gopan, being unsure if the pot was used by Sudras, decided to eat the food cooked by the Brahmins.
