“Remember the Titans”
This paper will analyze the sociological issues that we have discussed in class and that are brought up in the movie Remember the Titans. Based on a true story, this movie covered many of the main issues of our society in the past and some that continue in today’s world. Although these issues supposedly have been overcome, many can still be observed today. Before looking at the issues, it is important to understand the movie.

Julius was the one person he was asking to see. Bierer, the white player tells the nurse to let him in because he is my “brother.” The Titans go on to winning the championship game.
As mentioned previously, there are various issues that are brought up in the movie. The areas that will be of discussion are race, discrimination, social class, sports being agents of change, violence in sports, and sports and the media. Racism and prejudice are the main issues in the film. Racism is the belief that the color of one’s skin makes one different and a specific color is more superior to other racial groups. The ones talked about in this paper, are only a few of the many social issues. Although many people believe that the social issues showed in this movie no longer exist, as a former athlete of multiple sports in high school I can say I have witnessed them first hand. In turn these actions had led me to react and defend my fellow teammates. It is sad that in the world of 2016 many athletes continue these same battles. Furthermore, the movie gives us hope because towards the end of the movie, the issues presented were overcome because everyone had a chance to get to know each other and consider the other
