First, there were many social changes. Due to the rise in industrialization and the ease of transportation, the population of cities grew tremendously. Larger cities started the development of urbanization. Additionally, the environment was suffering due to the rise in steamboat and railroad transportation. With the rising need for wood, settlers moved West to destroy more land to obtain the wood needed for the trains and boats. The Market Revolution also brought changes for women and immigrants.
