My disadvantage population is the elderly and how they will make it without long term care without the proper insurance, family support and financial support. When caring for an aging parent or a husband or wife may bring complications. There are times when crisis arise where a parent or spouse has to be put in the hospital due to a fall or illness and maybe they may need hospitalization, rehabilitation, or a nursing home so they can recover for a while. I believe that the elderly may need an authoritarian leadership which is characterized by an individual who has control over all decisions and input from their group members (Cherry, 2016). Authoritarian leadership makes all of the decisions if the elderly or senior has no family that is involved or has no input from others. Authoritarian leadership is beneficial in some cases such when making decisions are need to be decided quickly without referring with a group of people. Then attempt to assist transition in their recent environment with many of confusion and discomfort. A social change agent can assist the disadvantaged population. By being a leader can accommodate the disadvantaged population to assist them with finding a place or learn further about the situation. The leader can stand beside and assist with helping the elderly with making the right decisions. The leader also can make sure that elderly is heard as well.
To advocate for the disadvantaged population is for the person that will be there to talk on their behalf. By being the advocate, it is an individual that will inform others of a person’s needs. Advocates is the one person that will map out the plans that will contribute disadvantaged population to gain resources to provide them in their everyday living in order to make it as long as they are able to.
