Sisterhood, Spirit and Morale Ideas The Standards Committee should discuss sisterhood and morale at all Standards Committee meetings. Consider if there are systemic problems within the chapter that the Standards Committee could address or if there is something fun the committee could plan in order to boost sisterhood and morale. Why not take a day of vacation from work to attend a university disciplinary hearing for your chapter? Why not support a sister who is in an abusive relationship or has an eating disorder or a drinking problem? Why not enjoy the love and joy of shared goals and a common vision? Why not have your own personal board of directors to which you can turn in any situation and at any moment? Why not hold the hand of a sister as she buries a parent, a husband or a child?…
Within the social work practice there is an inherent power differential between practitioner and clients. As I step into a social work role, my social location can affect my work with clients. As a social worker it is important to understand my own unique social location and how oppressions and privileges affect me. How am I uniquely situated in relation to my clients (Girl Action Foundation, 2016)? In understanding my social location, I am essentially questioning what my social location means and challenging pre-conceived assumptions and biases.…
Interact Club is an organization that I am proud to be a part of. As co-president, I get the opportunity to choose various service projects such as Feed the Hungry, Salvation Army, and Special Olympics. Volunteering with Feed the Hungry was one of the most pleasant experiences I’ve had as it allowed me to make a direct impact on the community-Ethiopia. We were given the opportunity to pack food that would be shipped off to the malnourished there. As a team, the other members and I packed over a thousand bags of food.…
It will expose me to new situations and bring me in contact with more people and therefore expand horizons; which I would have a hard time meeting on my own. I can only imagine the amount of knowledge a 110-year-old fraternity will have. It would be an honor to able to access such a resource. I know it would only be positive and bode well for my future.…

Here at Eastern Illinois University, I am a member, but also the secretary for Best Buddies, where we create friendships with adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. Throughout the semesters, we have monthly parties where everyone gets together, however, I noticed that some of the buddies looked bored and uninterested in the activities and games provided for them. I then realized that these games were likely designed for previous buddies, and every year our organization grows and gains new individuals, which means our variety of disability changes as well. After that realization, I asked the members of Best Buddies what they would like to see at the upcoming parties in which they were all very eager to provide me their wants and…

Risk is an inherent part of life; we take risks with every action each day, however, those that are undertaken for the sake of a project can seem to be under a magnifying glass, making it more important to evaluate the outcome of risk before continuing the forward progress of an operation. Risks as part of fundraising are certainly of concern to all who embark on a fundraising plan. The Nonprofit Risk Management Center (2003) indicates that there are five ways to reduce risk in fundraising: knowing the donors, understanding a donor’s motivation, establishing clear guidelines, getting expert help when necessary, and being prepared to walk away if the risks outweigh the benefits. Therefore, when creating a fundraising plan, a risk management…
I would like to see services filled because it shows that people are engaged. Another reason I chose this position is because this fraternity is based on service. The cardinal principles of this fraternity are Leadership, Friendship, and Service. This organization puts importance in serving multiple areas such campus, community, fraternity, and the nation. I would like to innovate this position by moving away from donations and focusing on events that make a difference.…
