The care planning meeting revolved around an 11 year old named, Katy, who was/is subject to care order. The rules around contact with Katy had been made very explicit to Katy’s mother and her Aunt, at the time of the care order being made. However upon receiving the case I learned that Katy had been having unsupervised contact with both her mother and her Aunt, as a result of a lack of adherence to the care order by Katy’s foster carers. As a result Katy had been moved from her previous foster carers to new residential home. Unfortunately Katy’s move from her foster carers to her new residential home was not perfect and may have been a cause for anxiety for Katy due to the uncertainty of her…

    # 3 TSD 78 Year Old Dr. Silva, As a health care provider, and knowing that the most common side effects with hypertensive medication are dizziness, orthostatic hypotension, light-headedness, feeling tired, weak and/ or drowsy, I would have to educate the patient and family to help prevent falls. What I would suggest to the patient is that he or she gets up slowly especially after being in a recumbent position. I would also tell them not to have any quick movements of the head that may precipitate dizziness. Furthermore, I would demonstrate to them how to properly sit at the side of the bed prior to getting up.…

This is beneficial for Wanda because it helps the care workers to build and develop Wanda’s trust. When Wanda’s trust on the care worker is developed, there would be a free flow of communication between Wanda and the care worker; information on Wanda’s personal life and all the issues and problems will belong between them. If care workers at woodland hall do not shut away wand as individual files, someone may misuse Wanda’s information and this could be an invasion of Wanda’s privacy. Invading Wanda’s privacy could violate her personal…

For care staff, during the day on each shift I arrange an assistant manager and two care assistants. I instruct the assistant manager to make a report on each resident, the report is written down in the daily report book. When changing shifts the report book is discussed with the assistant manager who is coming on shift. I give more responsibility to the senior staff, for instance, they give out the medication and are responsible for residents requiring a lot of care. I also allocate the senior staff the supervision of the junior staff to ensure they carry out procedures correctly and thoroughly, this also helps the junior staff be more familiar with the work and gain experience.…

Hostile worlds theories are founded on the assumption of “separate spheres,” which is the belief that intimate relations and economic transactions, or “sentiment and… rationality” (Zelizer, 2010: 270) are separate spheres that should not be mixed in any way. Hostile worlds theorists argue that if these separate spheres come into contact, both spheres become corrupted (Zelizer, 2010). This is where the dichotomy between love and money that is commonly raised in the care literature originates: separate spheres and hostile worlds perspectives believe that in intimate relationships, care is naturally motivated by love and thus should not be paid. Care that is paid, they believe, is motivated by the monetary compensation and not by love or altruism;…
