Social benefits that toys inspire are “increases in empathy, compassion, and sharing. Toys create options and choices. They model relationships based on inclusion rather than exclusion. They can improve nonverbal skills and they have been found to increase attention and attachment (Play in Children’s Development, Health, and Well-Being).” The social aspect of toys is very important. It is critical that children learn how to work with other people. Being able to get along and work well with others is very important, especially when establishing a career. Toys help children in so many ways that it is almost astounding. “All types of play, from fantasy to rough-and-tumble, have a crucial role in children’s development. Play is the lens through which children experience their world, and the world of others. If deprived of play, children will suffer both in the present and in the long-term (Contributions of Play and Toys to Child Development).” Play is essential in the development of a child’s mind and body. Experiencing all the different forms of play can help children better understand themselves. “With adequate play, children stand the best chance of becoming healthy, happy, productive members of society. Play has immediate benefits, such as cardiovascular fitness, and long- term benefits, including a sense of morality (Contributions of Play and Toys to Child Development).”
