Social awareness is all about showing respect for and understanding other’s perspectives, emotional states and needs. It revolves around participating in positive, safe and respectful relationships of others, as well as defining and accepting individual group roles and responsibilities. By being socially aware, one gains an understanding of the role of advocacy in present-day society and builds their capacity to critique societal constructs and forms of discrimination, such as racism and sexism.
