The simple fact that life is harder the obese individuals in our population. Harder in terms of social and health consequences of obesity. These facts upset, anger and frustrate Dr. Shonkoff simply because obesity is entirely preventable. Unlike other deadly health ailments, obesity is preventable. He goes on and expresses his concerns about the future and if we don’t help our children then they will not go on to live long healthy lives. We cannot accept this reality, we need to change the lifestyle of Americans.

The 7 factors for ideal cardiovascular health are optimal level of cholesterol, normal blood pressure, not having diabetes, lean body mass index, not being a smoker, physical activity, and a healthy diet. Out of these seven factors I have normal cholesterol level which I checked three months ago. I do not have diabetes, I am not a smoker, and I have normal blood pressure. To be completely honest I do not have a healthy diet because of my lifestyle but I will be improving that shortly, and I do not participate in much physical activity but that is because I don’t have the time to do so. So I have 4 out of 7 of the factors that are ideal for cardiovascular health. I am not the 1% because I do not meet all of the seven factors but I will be working on that in the future and hopefully I am able to change
