During my freshman year of high school, I was the captain of our freshman team along with my good friend Sam. It was a slow start to the season, but we were able to identify the problems we were experiencing during games and use that to work toward fixing them. We spent countless hours at our practices working and improving our gameplay to turn our team around. We began to win the tough games and move up the standings. It was one of the most satisfying feelings to see us come together and improve as Sam and I directed the team through practices and games. …show more content…
I learned to work with a variety of people ranging from helpful and intelligent other referees to spectators who are generally rude and disrespectful. I have since furthered my ability to officiate higher level games by upgrading my certification for the first time three years ago, and I will be applying to upgrade even further this fall
