Personal Narrative: My First Soccer Game

Improved Essays
We had very few soccer games during our season due to the lack of sign ups. Our second to last game of the season was today and the girls and I had heard the other team was tough. That night I eagerly ran into the soccer field and already saw about ten girls from the other team there. They did not seem tough to me just intimidating. Not all the girls on my team had gotten to the field except for Kassie and me. We were waiting for the others when we noticed a bus pull into the parking lot. More than thirty girls started to hop out one-by-one. Kassie and I were so shocked our mouths opened up wide in surprise by how many girls there were. Our team only had 14 girls in total! We did not know how we were going to get a break. A while later, the rest of our girls had …show more content…
She was not in pain or crying. Usually, when someone’s ankle is “sprained” as she claimed they go to a hospital and do not stay to watch a game. I stayed seated on the bench and five minutes later I was back in the game after the half time, but, I was feeling negative vibes around me. Everyone seemed heated up. We quickly switch sides of the field and we continued. The ball went to our side of the field in the right corner where it passed the line. The other team was suppose to throw the ball in again. I approach a girl and cover her so she can’t get to the ball. She was frustrated with being unable to get to it and shoved me then said, “move bitch!.” The goalie and and the captain on my team were not happy about that and started to protect me. Breanna, our goalie, yelled, “Don’t call her a bitch!” The girl immediately fired back with, “I’ll beat your ass up” and led to our captain replying back with “calm down, we don’t need this in a game”. Apparently, the other girl thought it was rude and said she wasn’t going to take orders from a white girl. It is important to note the majority of the girls on my team are either white or whitewashed Mexicans with light skin

I was playing forward and running back with the play when a turned around and saw her showing the symptoms that she was having an episode. I started to walk towards her and yell at my team to kick the ball out and get our certified athletic training to come help. Even though I was trying to do all this as fast as possible no one heard my yells and before I even go to the girl having the episode she fell face first into the ground. At this point, the ball had finally been kicked out and I had arrived at the side of the girl. The team's another coach was there too…

A video was released on social media; Jose Bautista was on the on deck circle waiting for his turn to hit when a white male was hassling Bautista about not having a hit all game. The white male made fun of bautista about a lot of things like his checkbook in his back pocket but not a base hit, Bautista turns back and let the male know that his checkbook would not be able to fit in his back pocket and went back to minding his own business. It may have not stopped the male from continuing his inappropriate comments but Bautista interacting back with him shows that Bautista can take a joke and fire back. Instead of the comments getting to him he simply jokes with the male right back and gets back to his job. If a different player with less patience would have encountered the situation it would have ended bad compared to how Bautista took care of…

The loud sound of the referee's whistle finally came and the game started. Halfway through the first half of the game my teammate Danielle passed me the ball. The other teams player came for me, she was one of their really good players so I thought I would never be able to pass her. As she approached me I stopped and pulled the ball back as she tried to get it from me.…

We began to play soccer from a fundamental perspective, practicing elementary skills every morning and afternoon. When I thought that our team was ready for the real game, I talked the president of soccer club into organizing soccer match on campus. Unfortunately, our team lost in the first game with a score of 0-3. The failure pushed me to find effective ways to win next game against a stronger rival.…

All players in our team are 12 years old, representing the upperclassmen. It is my first time playing football, the warm sunshine after a rainy day and the flying butterflies are cheering me up for my very first try in my entire life. I didn’t get any sleep the night before, since I was so excited and was imagining how cool I would look like if I score five times and became a legend. The “plastic” blonde girl squad in our class also played. Those white girls in the squad with pink skirts, that are shorter than their butt, are “reading” me just like I’m a book.…

Since it was raining, I was cold, tired, and just not in the mood to run, which is why, in my bad mood, I played defense instead of offense. After having spent about five of my Sunday’s running around on what should be considered a “lazy day”, I got pretty tired of it. That day, there were a good 22 players there and it was the first weekend since the JV Coldwater High School Soccer boys got back from their own season. The ratio from guys to girls was 13:9, which was an average amount of girls for the game. Each girl had short black athletic shorts on with the grey striped jersey tucked in.…

Two defenders from the other team came at me like seagulls going for that last piece of sandwich that the little boy left at the beach. The two defenders were good, but not good enough. I could’ve easily shot the ball past the goalie and into the net, but instead I passed to one of the little girls on my team, Tessa. There were only three seconds left. She bobbled the ball and then shot…

When the girls ask for a chance to try out for the boys’ soccer team, the coach replies, “Girls aren 't as fast as boys or strong or as athletic. Girls can 't beat boys and it’s as simple as that”. When the coach is sharing his views with the female soccer team, some members of the male soccer team seem to disagree but they still nod along because they do not want to fit in with their team members. Also, when Viola asks Justin what he thinks about the girls trying out, he says, “I think the coach said it all”. The answer he gives is clearly so he would not get made fun of for picking the girls over his own teammates.…

The roar of the engine sends my heart racing as I pull out on to the track, one lap around and we are off, trucks at my side as we glide around the turns. The slick dirt pulling my back end around I move my hands, my automatic controls, the only thing keeping me from spinning out. It’s funny really because clichés aren’t my thing, however, at times idioms are just the thing to describe a situation or time period in one’s life, for instance the saying that “life is a roller coaster” couldn’t be more fitting for my life. The ups and downs, the highs and the lows, the twists and turns, life is just one big adrenaline rush and at times I feel I’m a junking, addicted to life.…
