Loyalty is a big topic in real life and in this book. In this essay, there will be good and bad examples of loyalty shown by the greasers and from the Soc. Most of the bad examples are from the Socs and the good ones are normally from the greasers. The Socs are constantly betraying one another while the greasers stick together no matter what. Loyalty is very important and there are many examples in which the Soc, Cherry, and the greasers are being loyal and unloyal to one another. The first example is when Cherry is being disloyal to the Socs because she is being a spy for the greasers. The first quote that was found about cherry being disloyal by being a spy says “Hey, I didn’t tell you we got us a spy” (Hinton 84). This quote is about Cherry being a spy for the gang and it also shows the disloyalty that Cherry has to the Soc. This quote is very important because it is one of the first quotes that introduces Cherry being unloyal to the Soc. The next quote relates to Cherry being unloyal because it shows how the gang can not believe that a Soc is helping them. The second quote showing Cherry’s unloyalty says “So …show more content…
This quote shows how much unloyalty there is between the Soc because Randy did not show up in one of the biggest fights of the book. The Final quote is about Cherry being Unloyal to Bob and Randy. The following quote shows how disloyal Cherry is, it says “Stand here she said, there is not much we can do” (Hinton 41). This quote shows how unloyal Cherry is to Randy and Johnny Bob by hiding Two-bit, Johnny, and Ponyboy, hoping that Randy and Bob don’t see them. This quote is important because it shows how disloyal Cherry is to the Soc by not letting others see that she is with the greasers. All of these quotes show how unloyal the Soc are compared to the greasers. The Soc are one of the most unloyal groups in the book, they do not stand up for each other and they keep secrets that they should tell to
