Soapy Water Experiment Results

In the experiment, I tested how soapy water would affect the amount of droplets the penny can hold. The results of my experiment show that the penny holds less droplets of soap water. When the soap is added to the water, the soap collides with water breaking down the tension. As a result, it harder for the droplets to hold together. To find whether my hypothesis was right, I did several of trials to figure out whether my hypothesis was correct. The trials were used to show how soap can change the droplets that could be held on the penny. The results of the trial helped me see what happened when I added soap to the water. It tells me whether my hypothesis was correct when I tested it and whether the results can prove my point. After analyzing the data, my hypothesis was correct. I was able to see a trend that the penny was able to hold 40+ droplets of tap water each time, but there were some exceptions, while the penny was able to hold 10+ drops each time. The penny was able to hold on average of 43.3 droplets of tap water while a penny was only able to hold in an average of 16.4 droplets of soap water. This clearly shows that my hypothesis was correct, the tension was broken when the soap was added to the water which made it harder for the soapy water to form together. …show more content…
I took several of trials to find the results, and I was able to tell that my hypothesis was correct. I might had some error in counting the droplets, mistakenly observed incorrectly, or have changed the constant of the experiment creating the wide range of numbers in my results. I would like to test out other liquid mixed with water to see if my hypothesis will works for all of the mixtures of water. When soap is adding to the water, the water and soap will collide causing it harder for the soapy water to form together, because the tension that forms together
