The dance takes the vocabulary of ballet, the story line of The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks and lyrics of Youth by Daughter and blends it into this immaculate presentation of my all-time favorite love story. The floor work resembles the struggle that those with Alzheimer’s face as they live daily without recognizing a bit of who they are nor what to make of the world around them. Jim’s part in the dance resembles the role of Noah in the book based on how he brings the life that they had back to Marissa’s memory just as Noah did for Allie. Within a matter of seconds though the liveliness of the known young love leaves the dancers and then the rage of not recalling their life together appears as Marissa proceeds to tear apart the notebook. The determination and dedication of Jim to the relationship with Marissa only exemplifies the perseverance that they have to overcome the struggle that comes with being married to those with Alzheimer’s, which can be seen through Jim picking up and reading the torn apart notebook. The song illustrates the youth that the storyline thirsts for in order to complete the circle that generates the idea of love to last forever. While the stage may shine with a multitude of flooding stage lights, and the music may cause those close to the stage bodies’ vibrate from the intensity of the bass the dancers still went on. They performed as though they were the only ones in the room, and relaxed even though they performed numerous dances for two hours straight and made it look as simple as walking. While they performed I could see how the dances resonated differently with people, such as if each dance was pure entertainment to being the inspiration for others to dance. Each dance and each reaction cause one thing to remain constantly true, and that pertains to the idea that each dance caused someone to move and for a variety of unannounced
