Snow White And The Huntsman Analysis

The movie “Snow White and the Huntsman” takes a lot of creative liberties. It expands greatly on the original story which many new elements and even removes some parts. Like the addition of an evil queen with super powers. How she not only wants to be the most beautiful and powerful person, but can take life from other people to maintain her beauty and power.
The opening of “Snow White and the Huntsman” is done just as the story in the Grimm brothers’ book. The queen pricks her finger (on a rose instead of a needle) and three drops of blood fell. Just like in the story, she describes what she wants in her child. She hopes that her child can have a child as white as snow and as red as blood. In the story the queen also wants her to be as black

So when they came home they found her and allowed her to stay as long as she keep the house for them. The movie takes a very different approach to how they meet. It doesn’t even mention a house. Instead they meet because they have a grudge against the huntsman, who is traveling with Snow White, and the dwarfs end up capturing them both. One of the big parts of the story that is changed is the part where the queen disguises herself to try to kill Snow White. The queen tries to do this a total of three times in the story. She first tried to choke Snow White with a lace. Then she attempted to poison Snow White with a poison comb. After that she tried to kill Snow White with a poison apple. In the movie only the attempt with the apple is done. Just like in the movie Snow White take a bite of the poison apple and faints. In the movie she is taken a kingdom instead of the dwarfs’ house. There is a difference between the story and the movie with how Snow White is brought back to life. In the story she wakes up after something makes her spit up the apple piece, but in the movie she is brought back to life by the huntsman. In the story this is pretty much the end, she gets married and has the queen killed. In the movie it’s not

The original version provide a narrower outlook on the story and can easily set up unrealistic expectations for young girls. This change alters the theme from good conquering evil to a story between a mother and daughter. As part of Maitland’s new theme, she promotes a feminist message within her version of the fairytale. This allows her to establish a moral with a larger meaning. Because of this version, more people can come to the realization that there is a far greater “happily ever after” for the princess who doesn’t wait around for the prince to come sweet her off her feet, but instead who is strong enough to provide herself with her own happy…

Based on what I've researched, I was able to find many differences between the original fairy tale of "Rapunzel" and the movie adaptation Tangled. Comparing the different clothing, the characters, and the setting I concluded that the film is pretty accurate compared to the original story, but it has some different elements that in my opinion make the story more fun. The movie adaptation was a big hit that, when released was very popular, that has a good rating, and that represents the story very well. Also it's shows how different are famous fairy tales from two hundred years ago than from…

The Princess Bride is written like a fantasy/ fairy-tales, But the movie has a modern twist to a traditional fairy tale. It’s not like any other, it’s a satire/ parody fairy tale because it creates an exaggerated story based on traditional fairy tales. The superhuman characters of Westley, Inigo, Fezzik, and Vizzini are created to put the story on a grand scale. Each of these characters plus many more posses powers that normal people do not have. This movie shows good versus evil, hero versus villain, while the watcher figures out who is who.…

The number Seven is a lucky number and brings good omens. Although numbers give us details with deeper meaning, it is not the only archetype we see in “Snow White”. Another archetype that we see throughout Snow White is the distinct colors such as, “Snow White”, where white is a symbol of purity and timelessness, or the color green “he stayed so long his hair turned green”, where green is a color symbolizing hope. The color red symbolizes blood and sacrifice and black symbolizes chaos and death:…

In the northern hemisphere, snow is prevalent. Every winter, snow comes, but to those who have never seen or known snow, well, it can be a huge surprise. Jem comes along and scolds Scout for wasting the snow. “I stuck my tongue out and caught a fat flake. It burned. “Jem, it’s hot!” “No it ain’t, it’s so cold it burns. She represents “the Angel in the house” (Gubar, Gilbert, 294). Snow White becomes symbolic for what a patriarchy expects from females, “childlike, docile submissive, the heroin of a life that has no story” (Gilbert, Gubar, 293). On the other hand, the wicked Queen represents the “monster woman,” she is illustrated as a “plotter, schemer, a witch, an artist, an impersonator, a woman of almost infinite creative energy, witty, wily, and self-absorbed” (Gilbert, Gubar, 293). The queen is a threat to societal roles; she threatens the patriarchy, which is also why the voice in the mirror would neglect her from being the “fairest of them…

Additionally, the plot of The Little Snow-White is straightforward, and it narrates a story where the beauty of the Little Snow-White attracts envy and hatred from her own stepmother, that almost caused her death. The beautiful queen with a heart as dark as the bats of the night ordered a huntsman to kill the innocent seven-year- old princess. The narrative was told from the point of view of an omniscient narrator that gives the reader the opportunity to share in the struggle of the little princess. For example:…

Although the mood and setting change drastically at different parts, they are very dark and chilling in some scenes of the film, especially when Snow White is running through the dark forest after she is nearly killed. The forest seems to be haunted and is full of lurking animals that she thinks are trying to kill her. Another prominent gothic setting is the castle belonging to the Evil Queen who is also known as Snow White’s stepmother. The dungeon is full of skeletons and it is here where the Queen practices her dark magic in her attempts to kill Snow White. Because of this, Snow White is the damsel in distress, but she happens to find her heroes herself. Her heroes are not only the seven dwarves who welcome Snow White into their cottage but also the huntsman who spares her life and warns her of the queen’s plot to kill her. The Evil Queen uses spells and potions to brew a poisoned apple that will put a curse on Snow White, causing her to fall into a “sleeping death.” This wicked plan is the main supernatural element in the…

Instead of the fairy godmother in most other Cinderella stories, this version uses the mother’s grave and two birds to help Cinderella. (Grimm) This version of the story has Cinderella desiring to be happy and safe again, as when her mother was alive. Cinderella eventually attains happiness and safety near the end, when the prince discovers that she was the mysterious woman from the ball. “We are all born sexual creatures, thank God, but it 's a pity so many people despise and crush this natural gift.” - Marilyn Monroe. Women who are beautiful often attract unwanted jealousy and drama. Take the infamous tale of Snow White that was originally written by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm in 1812. The story focuses on a Queen who was sewing during midwinter and as she looked out the window, she says “If only I had a child as white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as the wood in this frame.” And shortly afterwards, she gives birth to a girl, whom she named Snow White, with the exact description before dying. The King then remarries a beautiful woman who is seen as proud and arrogant. This woman, who became the new queen, has a magic…
