My first experience of snow was like a snow globe, except it seemed whoever was shaking it wasn’t going to stop. Snow Globes are a model of a scene surrounded by particles of fake, white matter resembling snow, but when shaken it turns to a magnificent snowstorm. While I have many snow globes at my house collected from my childhood, this was the first one I was in. I think a lot about the countless times my dad has told me of stories of his childhood. His numerous adventures of snow days, seasonal change, and free time in the backyard. It seemed to me that my dad had an eventful childhood. However living in California I never had experienced real snow, seasonal change, or a “real” backyard, the beach was mine. I’ve only experienced the snow shoveled in for the tubing at Big Bear. I never fully qualified the trend of snow falling, until Winter Break in Sedona, Arizona last year. …show more content…
The snow fell on New Years Eve symbolizing a New Year and opportunity for me. I found it hysterical actually that it happened to snow in warm, sunny Sedona, Arizona on New Years Eve. It was the first real snow in my life. I felt ecstatic when I opened the garage door. Thick icy snow-covered everything. The snowflakes fell delicately on the freezer like floor, making perfectly good snow for a snowman. Every step I took left a crisp footprint in the snow, as if I was the only person to step outside. The air whistled deep and painful, which caused my skin to sting and eyes to water. My fingers and toes felt numb, however it was a nice sensation when bundled up in a cocoon of vests, jackets, and thermal wear.
