Sniffer Dogs Should Be Allowed In Schools

Decent Essays
Police should be allowed to conduct random searches of schools, malls and other public places using sniffer dogs because of the safety of the people. Many times illegal actions have occurred behind closed doors and no one has realized until matters have become severe. An example would be when people are crossing the border with illegal substances. If hidden well, airport security cannot suspect/find anything but sniffer dogs are able to. This also occurs in school, for students would not tell on each other for possessing drugs and there is only so much teachers can supervise. Police never bring out sniffer dogs ‘randomly’, there is always a reason. Either they have been told something or have seen something to suspect that public area. Illegal

Jardines illustrates the shifting landscape of Fourth Amendment analysis. In Jardines, the Supreme Court held that the use of a police drug-sniffing dog on the front porch of a house was an unlawful search because the property was protected by the Fourth Amendment. Jardines specified that only a limited scope of conduct is invited by the simple action of “hanging a knocker.” Actions that deviate meaningfully from this protocol (i.e., approaching the front door, knocking, and waiting briefly) or that are not “customary, usual, reasonable, respectful, ordinary, typical, [or] nonalarming” will exceed the scope of the implied license and thus violate the homeowner’s Fourth Amendment…

Throughout the past 10 years there has been many talks on whether the police should be required to wear body cameras. Throughout all the research and studies regarding these cameras, these have been many pros to body cams but there have also been cons and many challenges to implementing this system in police forces throughout the country. Many different police stations have done experiments with these cameras and have all shown very positive feedback. Regardless of the amount of work necessary to implement these cameras, it should be necessary for officers to wear these body cameras because they have the potential to save lives. To go along with that, police should be forced to wear these body cameras because they have the potential to save lives, give better representation than hearing a testimony, and make suspects less likely to run or attack an officer because everything they do is caught on camera.…

I mean for example, your riding around late at night about 12am going to go get a bite to eat with a significant other. An officer suddenly gets behind you, and you pull over, and he/she says you seem to swerve back there on Edge Road. You move forward to say, "well I didn't notice me making a swerve move." So the officer states, "Get out both of you I would like to search your car. Most public opinions are said that they want body cameras on police officers but some say that they don 't want this because of privacy in the public. Because of issues of police brutality with minorities police officers should have body cameras on at all times. " The Brown shooting and other recent police shootings in which apparently unarmed men were killed and accounts of what happened sharply differ have led to growing calls for standard use of such body cameras and "dash cams by police” (Paulson).…

On July 4th, 1776 the United States gained independence from Britain – a tyrannous regime that held power over the United States for quite some time. After fighting so hard for independence, the people wanted to make sure they would never be under a tyrannous rule again. Consequently, a system of checks and balance was made to give equal power to the three branches of our government. These checks and balances can be seen all throughout our government, however, one of the best examples that displays the efficiency of this system can be seen in the process of making a law. The first step in this process is to draft a bill.…
