In most lab classes, I expected to be self-sufficient in completing the assignments, and I need to understand what is expected of that day. I think part of the skills that a laboratory class is meant to teach is how to work together. The study at Africa is great, the photograph’s quality is amazing, we can see Zebras munch on dried grass, lion cubs play with their mother, giraffe go for a stroll, and birds hitch a ride on the back of a buffalo. Seeing these photos of the magnificence of life on Earth can only evoke some of that concern for our precious home and its inhabitants. It’s such a great opportunity to experience this project. I think the coolest part is that the public participation, to help sift through the millions of images, the project's researchers enlisted the help of the Zooinverse website, which hosts 'citizen science' projects. Zooniverse helps researchers classify the images by inviting the public to help identify the animals in each photo.
