Snapchat: Media's Negative Impact On My Life

Improved Essays
Throughout the years I have been exposed to several different forms of media. From internet games on an old dell computer to apps on a smartphone, media continues to revolve. One particular form of media that has made an influential impact on my life is Snapchat. Through face to face communication, filters, and stories. Snapchat has impacted my life in a positive manner, and continues to do so every day. Snapchat allows me to take pictures and send them to my friends, fast and easy. In my opinion, this face to face messaging is one of the best new communication technologies. Unlike texting a picture message on a phone, snapchat allows you to easily send the same picture to multiple friends in one step without an unwanted group text. With Snapchat, I can send a picture to multiple people and caption the photo, making …show more content…
I use the snapchat filters every single day. Ranging from a geofilter in my community to enhancing my photo with a black and white filter, I use multiple filters daily. What makes filters so great is that it makes communicating with others so easy. By sliding a geofilter over your photo your friends can see where you’re at, even what you’re doing—like celebrating a wedding or watching a football game. This feature makes it easy for others to see what is happening in my life and what I enjoy in life, ultimately connecting me with my friends and others who enjoy the same things! As the app continues to update I find more and more joy in using Snapchat. Now, you can use multiple filters on one photo, which I love to do! This has had a positive impact on my life because I can now not only share where I’m at through a geofilter, but also filter my photo—I can even pair it with the time or temperature. This lets my friends know where I’m at and when it was happening, while sending a cute picture with a filter. For the purpose of staying connected, Snapchat filters connect us on a brand-new

These days, If you don't snapchat an event, where you really there and did it really happen? The Snapchat posts would also discuss the products each business was selling. Some of the behavioral insights associated with this action/nudge include the idea of stories and triggers. The social media campaign relates to the insight of stories because when students see the story behind the students selling their products, they are likely to share it because it is memorable and easier to recall than certain specifications for a product. The social media campaign also relates to the idea of triggers because people like to talk about things that are on the top of their mind. So when a student sees the Snapchat post, they are likely to share it because it is fresh in their mind and they want others to know about it.…

Socialnn Snapchat analysis It is hard to tell an interesting and engaging story, especially over a platform such as Snapchat. Journalists are limited to the 15 second time limit for each snap. This forces the poster to condense information into the time limit, while still trying to get their point across to the viewer. Telling an effective story over Snapchat requires a couple key factors. Variety between interviews and background information helps keep the viewer watching and engaged.…

I very much connected to the end of the quote as it demonstrates the two ways in which the Snapchat filters can be interpreted. Aside from being a cure for boredom, filters can make us feel better about our appearance as it gives us the physical attributes that are deemed desirable by society. During my weeks on the app, I noticed my tendency take filtered selfies when I was in need of a “pick-me-up” as I felt the product on Snapchat was better than that of a mirror or regular camera. I actually enjoyed seeing myself with long eyelashes, perfectly contoured skin, and lighter eyes. In fact, I even caught myself searching for greenish-blue coloured contacts online, something I had never even considered before my time on the app.…

On Snapchat, following another users means that you are “friends.” Similar to how Instagram users can see posts of people that they follow, Snapchat users can send and receive photos and videos from their “friends”. An Instagram account can be made private by choice, meaning that other users must request to follow someone, and only once the request is approved can a user have access to a private account’s posts. Users also have the authority to block or report other accounts if they feel the need to.…
