The stakeholders involved in this particular event would be Snapchat primarily. But it blames illegal third party apps (called snapsaved )for the photo hack. The main culprits here would be web and mobile applications that allow Snapchat users to save photos. The hack affected snapchat users mostly based in Europe, male users and female users alike, teens between the age group of 13-19 and their parents. The stakeholders affected here are common people unlike the celebrities every time. Caudill concludes that the real culprit is the concept behind Snapchat itself. "Without controlling the endpoint devices themselves, Snapchat can't ensure that its users' photos will truly be deleted. Though Snapchat does not allow the official API like other social media programmers have figured out and created similar ones which send data over snapchat’s network. In order to control the unregulated API snapchat should plan to develop an official API to track the third party applications like the other social media. According to the statement from Snapchat, the company is “excited by the interest in developing for the Snapchat platform” but “going to take their time to get it right.” Meanwhile it has asked the users to stay away from the third party applications for their own safety.
Snapchatters are the ones who are the victims compromising their security by using third party application. Snapchat has failed to take the responsibility stating that users are risking their security by using these applications against the snapchat’s terms and conditions.
