Fast forward to today: Twitter is at its apex, Snap Chat couldn’t be more successful, and give a take a team or two and those same teams are coveting the second most impactful free agent of all time, Kevin Durant.
According to multiple reports, Durant has already eliminated the Lakers and Wizards from a list of possible suitors, so the viable teams left are the Thunder, Warriors, Spurs, Rockets, Heat, Clippers, and Celtics.

As exciting as Durant would be in Houston, the reputation of “a zero defense” system greatly hinders their ability to bring in a player such as Durant who understands the level of defense that is needed to win a championship.
We’ve seen James Harden implode at any sign of dysfunction. What happens when Durant leads the team in shots for a span of five games? Will Harden’s already below average defense get worse?
Miami Heat- 10%
The Pitch: The Miami Heat organization is one of the most stable franchises in the entire NBA. Like Boston, the Heat is in the eastern conference, but unlike Boston, the Heat has had more recent success, a history of landing big name free agents, and Pat Riley (the best recruiter in the NBA).
Why- 10%? Strictly Pat Riley. If it weren’t for him the percentage would be 1%. Given their tough cap situation involving Hassan Whiteside, landing Durant is a pipe dream for the Heat, but I’ll never count out Pat Riley when it comes to landing a big name free agent.
San Antonio Spurs- 15%
The Pitch: The San Antonio Spurs have been the definition of consistency across the entire landscape of the sports’ world. Adding Durant would give the Spurs two of the five best overall players in the league, and another in the top 15.
