Snake Island: Ethical Dilemmas

Snake Island My time on Snake Island has been spent counting food, trading for resources and scavenging the safe parts of the island for food and water. My character is Physical Education Major Rachael Michaelis. My character does not like Utilitarianism. Therefore, I believe it is important for minority groups to be represented equally in the decision making process. I am cooperative, sensible and I tend to keep to myself. Unfortunately, I suffer from a severe concussion from the plane crash.

The first day we crashed on the island, we conversed as a large group about what we needed to do to survive. We briefly introduced ourselves, and created small group committees based on our individual interests. We also discussed electing a leader and a judicial committee. After the first day, we did not talk about electing a leader until things on the island began to get out of control. After Michael was identified by Titus as our leader, we quickly elected our current leader Josh. There were many other ethical dilemmas the community encountered that day. We had people scavenging the island for resources, we were becoming low on food and water, and we had no shelter as a storm was approaching the island. The stress and tension was high among the community. Several of the committees are not aware of decisions being made among other committees. There was no form of large group communication until things got out of control. Different situations call for different problem resolutions using reason and rational thought. I would use Desire Theory along with Egoism to voice my opinions to the community. A few of the members of the community, including myself, have special needs; diabetes, asthma, vegetarian/gluten needs and injury. These special needs should be a priority for these individuals. We should effectively communicate these needs to the community so we can solve these issues together. One of the women in our group suffered from an asthma attack and has one remaining life token. If she had made her condition known to the community, perhaps we could have conjured a deal for her medication before her
