The book “Snakes in Suits: When Psychopaths Go to Work” was written by Paul Babiak and Robert Hare. When writing this book, both Babiak and Hare tried to give us the tools in helping us as readers to be able to discover psychopaths in the work place. As we as readers, read this book, we notice that Babiak and Hare also give us some guidelines and tips to helping us defend ourselves against psychopaths as well. This book gives detailed descriptions of a psychopath’s attitude, skills, and quirks while working the corporate world, and how to prevent people from knowing there are psychopaths. Psychopaths tend to be without any conscience and they are incapable to feel any type of emotion. One reason for this, is due to psychopaths interpreting anything pertaining to emotion, with a neutral or nonchalant attitude. Since psychopaths don’t seem to be able to feel any type of emotion, they tend to be notorious liars. They can lie to be able to get what they want and to turn things into their favor. These particular psychopaths are the ones that are mainly abusive to their wives, and they don’t really on charm to get what they want. This group of psychopaths are the ones that tend to be the reason, that some corporations end up failing. Due to the fact, that they find reasons to initiate conflict, especially in a working environment. However, there is one group of psychopaths, that are worse than the “corporate bullies”, and this group is a combination of manipulation and bullying. A couple main manipulator and bullying psychopaths that tend to come to mind are Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and even Jim Jones. By using their manipulation, they were able to mark history of some dark and terrible things. Anyone that went against their ideas, we made an example and dealt with severely. Thus, making them a textbook case of being a psychopath, when you look at their background.
Now when it comes to psychopaths, it is misbelieved that only men tend to be psychopaths. However, that is not the case, women can also show characteristics of being a textbook psychopath. The topic women psychopath’s, tend to hit that sex-role biases, when it comes to diagnosis. While men psychopaths tend to use their manly physique, charm and intimidation to get what they want, that is not the case with women.
