25 September. 2017 Effects of Smartphone to Our Health. Smartphones is now one of the most used and most popular gadget. Smartphones are incredibly useful devices, it allows us to do numerous things like connecting us, entertainment, easy shopping, they can also serve as alarm clocks, notepads, cameras and etc. This device has plenty of uses however it comes with a downside, it can cause serious problems in our physical, mental and social health if used irresponsibly. It is true that smartphones can also benefit our health, especially with the use of fitness apps. Fitness apps like Jefit come up with various training workouts, ranging from beginner to advance to meet your fitness needs and goals. There are also diet and weight management apps; these

Social health involves the ability to develop interpersonal relationships with others, and as social animals interacting or socializing with other people is important for our well-being. It has shown that smartphone addiction has also negatively affected our interpersonal communication skills or social skills. While Facebook claims to connect us, ironically social media could make us feel isolated and lonely. The everyday presence of social media is changing the behavior and attitudes of today’s teenagers. Compared to older or previous generations today’s generation hang out with their friends less, they go on dates less, and also they have less sex. (“Twenge”) Even data that shows that teenagers are prioritizing smartphones over getting a driver’s license and buying a car is evidence that today’s generation has less physical social interaction with each other. (“Weismann”). In conclusion even though smartphones have a few beneficial health benefits, it is eclipsed by the overwhelming amount of negative effects to our overall
