Smarter Balanced Assessment Reflection While taking this test in class I didn’t take it so serious until you mentioned that you were collecting. To be honest tests are never fun and when you can recall some of the steps for solving some of the problems it makes it more frustrating. While taking the test, I got annoyed because I knew that I had learned certain formulas to solve a problem in the test and I just couldn’t remember those formulas. Overall, I feel like I did great not sure how many I got wrong because problem number 9 I thought I had calculated my answer correctly and the pdf file gives a different answer. For example, it says to enter the product of 2684 x 24, I multiplied those numbers and my answer was 64,416 but the pdf file states 9,135. I am not sure if I am wrong or if that’s a mistake from the pdf file. …show more content…
I don’t panic with every single fraction problem but the majority, for example, problem number seven I managed to solve it easily. But with problem number 20, I just couldn’t find the answer, I meant the answer was given to me on the pdf but I still can’t figure out how to solve it. I even tried googling it and I am still confused, I managed to multiply the fraction ¾ by 12 because a foot has 12 inches but I just don’t see how to get 4 1/8 or 33/8, I feel very annoyed and irritated I can’t find the answers its driving me nuts, I asked my other classmates and they are stuck as well. I know I had math problems like this in the past I just can’t recall how to solve it all the

Write of what parts of the text were the most difficult to read, and to identify how many times a passage was read before some understanding was achieved. This has been actually one of my best weeks so far, week 6. The topics were linear equations and non linear equations and I was able to remember about them so this time my brain was not that disconnected as normally is with algebra which made me happy. Do not get me wrong, I still had to read multiple times some sections that caused a little confusion, but again it was not that bad and at the end everything came back to me, this time it was a lot easy for me to figure out some of the book samples, except of course the ones that had multiple fractions I am still under pressure with those.…

In the recent decade, a heated controversy over the pros and cons of standardized assessment has been witnessed in both fields of education policy and applied linguistics (e.g. Taylor, 1994; Llosa, 2011, etc.). As a result, issues related to standardized language assessment have gained attention internationally. While the United States has been concerned with accountability and high-stakes consequences brought by the No Child Left Behind Act (Abedi, 2004; Menken, 2008), China has been declaratively promoting less assessment-driven education reform (Lockette, 2012; Liu & Dunne, 2009). Moreover, the Chinese Ministry of Education (2011) has also promised a shift away from teacher-centeredness towards student-centeredness in curriculum reform. Based on the common belief, at least shared by most Chinese people, that…

Title Enrolling the EOF program has lighten up a path in life that would have gone completely undiscovered had I walked alone. Along the path was my introduction to college writing, a class that has improved my writing skills profoundly. At first the tasks given to us on the syllabus seemed daunting, almost insurmountable within the five-week period of the program; it seemed even more inconceivable with the class being only twice a week. However, with the guidance and instruction given to me by the professor and peers I was able to strengthen my work as a student.…

Fractions Understanding a half When students begin learning about fractions, it is imperative that the educator starts by assessing the students understanding of what a half is. Based on the Australian Curriculum this often takes place in the Year One descriptor (ACMNA016), where it identifies that students are able to half an item and identify how it is an equal portion. Developing a understanding into how to halve an object so both parts are equal, play a vital role in understanding how fraction work, this is based on a half being the largest fraction before making a whole. A child can demonstrate a understanding by folding a piece of paper over onto itself to make half, but then also go on to describe that they are equal as they are equal…

Although teaching is a field that is extremely rewarding, it also comes with its share of challenges. These challenges can be overcome, however, if the teacher believes in their students ability to learn, and is able to inspire and motivate them. The teacher can accomplish this task through motivating the students through lessons, tests, and a positive classroom environment. If the teacher is fully committed to their student’s best interests, the classroom will ultimately succeed, even if there are challenges along the way.…
