As an irreplaceable transportation tool in human life, the vehicle has rapidly advanced in recent years. The future vehicle will have a sensor, which can scan 600 feet of distance around the vehicle, which is a self-driving technology (Markoff, 2014). The innovation of self-driving cars is kind of a life-changing breakthrough because it can reduce the stress of drivers and guarantee road safety. Smart technology like voice control, driver override system, Biometric vehicle access and a driverless feature are functions that will provide people with a simple and safe way to drive a car in the future. The technology of driverless is still testing and improving, because this technology is not mature yet. Google Car is an obvious example of a driverless vehicle and it still testing. According to Markoff (2014), Google created a self-driving car without a steering wheel or brake pedal. There are two buttons that drivers can control: the start button and stop button. Also, Google Car could be controlled by a smartphone application. People can select a destination on a smartphone and the car will follow the human’s command. That means people will never feel tired when they are driving for a long time, the driverless car could avoid some accidents because it has the intelligence sensor to watch out for obstructions. Moreover, also from the article, the author claims that the Google Car has a potential purpose, which is the driverless taxicab because driverless could save the cost. Compared with current taxi costs, which is about four dollars per mile, the driverless only costs fifty cents per mile (Markoff, 2014).
