A smart Hospital is a broad phrase that encompasses the performance and efficiency of a hospital as well as the technology it has within. The need to have more innovative hospitals that will have the new Health Information Technology (HIT) has been increasing. Health IT is a way to exchange medical information in a more innovative and convenient way for physicians and patients. A Hospital that will cater to the needs of patients and physicians in a new and hi-tech way is the most ideal. These smart rooms allow for the patient to be comfortable and have the latest technology within reach. This means, a very modern and chic design that allows for the optimal comfort and space. The goal for this space is to give the patient an experience where they are more involved and fitting to his or her needs as a patient to the hospital. I think allowing patients to have access to a smart TV that has all the amenities of being at home, like the ever so popular Netflix and Hulu, as well as gaming system that gives a fun entertainment while being treated. Not only having entertainment access but also educational purposes where patients can learn about what type of treatment he/she will be receiving and what they can expect as and outcome. I think a digital view of their daily schedule that is easy to edit if something needs to be updated and changed, which is easy for the patient and clinical staff to read at any point during the day. To have an engaging and smooth running smart hospital it is necessary to have a “Smart” staff. Choosing a clinical staff that will keep up with the ever changing technology and the ability to deliver the best patient care is at the up most importance. Employees will be thoroughly screened to see how well they adapt to change, ability to care for patients and how well they work with other members of staff.
