My SMART goal was to maintain my A’s for Quarter 2 in all seven classes. I was able to achieve this goal. In these next paragraphs, I will explain more about my effort, difficulties, successes, and changes.
I put in a lot of effort into achieving this goal. To me, one of the most important things in getting good grades is always putting your best effort into things. I especially showed effort in using my time wisely, and doing my homework when I that needed to get done. When I made my SMART goal on the SMART goal worksheet, I wrote that I would do homework early or on time to achieve my goal. My time log supports this. From November 16, 2015 to November 22, 2015, I did 20 hours of homework. I put in an immense amount of effort into doing my homework well and on time. I procrastinated a lot. Procrastination can lead to bad grades. Procrastination stopped me from getting things done early or it stopped me from putting my best effort into it. In my procrastination journal from November 9, 2015 to November 13, 2015, I procrastinated every day, Monday through Friday. To procrastinate, I ate food, read books, or played on electronics. This definitely gave me a difficult time to achieve my goal, because I would have to stay up late or wake up early to finish or do assignments. Procrastination was my largest difficulty in achieving this SMART goal. A success I had in trying to achieve this SMART goal was that I was able to get all A’s, not just at the end of Quarter 2, but all throughout Quarter 2. In my grade management worksheet, it says that I got all A’s for the beginning of Quarter 2. Then, in my mid-quarter report card, I got all A’s in that too. Now, at the end of Quarter 2, I also have all A’s. So, that was a big success for me because I was able to reach my SMART goal all quarter

On the contrary, active procrastinators deliberately procrastinate as they prefer to work under pressure (Chu and Choi). Studies have revealed three major themes in active procrastinators which include purposeful delays on school work to facilitate greater efficiency even if it means losing sleep to get the work done closer to the due date, systematical procrastination to attain passing grades, and appealing academic social outcomes which leads students to do it again because they conceived a satisfying outcome previously and felt the action of procrastination to be worth the end results (Hensley). Recent statistics have revealed an estimated eighty to ninety-five percent of college and university level students suffer from active procrastination, and thirty to fifty percent of students said they had difficulties with preparing for exams, beginning the written process of papers, and doing class readings (Yerdelen). Statistics revealed ten to twelve percent of those college students to be under extreme stress and one of the main stressors being school related due to procrastination (Peer et…
