Smart Goal Approach

The SMART goals approach has enabled me the ability to organize, construct a plan, and recognize barriers to obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Obtaining that degree would open up opportunities within my chosen career field and give me the ability to further care for my family. The goal I plan to complete by gaining my Bachelor’s, is to obtain a highly desirable position at my current job. The Child and Youth Program Director is the position on that I have been working towards since beginning of my career working as a civilian within the Navy.
To identify my educational goal that coincides with my professional goal is to identify my current point of start, which is to obtain my Bachelors in four years. I will do so by continuing the work study program that has been offered through my current position and also by becoming an expert at time management. Measuring my progress is important to remaining on task to reach my goal. Those skills include the ability to manage time, remain persistent and passionate, and finally confidence to overcome my language barrier due to being from another country, Italy. It is necessary to identify the resources needed to getting my education. Those resources specifically begin with the monetary burden of completing my degree. To address this barrier, I have set aside money to pay for my courses as I work through my degree. In order to complete this goal, I must become very resilient to my environment.
