The article states “Children develop knowledge and skills as they undertake exciting, real-life projects”. This is saying by kids going outside and doing hands on things they learn and understand things better. The article then goes on to state “By studying science, math and related subjects through outdoor experiences, students can connect to their local environment and become stewards of their community’s natural resources”. Instead of only teaching students in classrooms at desk about basic things. It will be more of a real world experience if they learn things hands on. Studies show that schools that use outdoor classrooms are more successful in social studies, science, language arts and math. Children in outdoor education settings show improvement in self-esteem, problem solving and motivation to learn. It’s something about kids liking to be outside. Kids are more eager to learn when it is in an outdoor setting instead of being indoors at a desk. Students feel that being enclosed all day and not receiving the necessary sun light and fresh air is not fair to them.
