Bill Clem suggest that Acts 2:43-47 describes what a community of believers should look like. He suggest that prayer was an integral part of the early Christian small groups, stating, “prayer was more than just part of the services they attended; it was part of their community life (Acts 2:42). Prayer is part of what it means to love God as a worshiper.” James exhorts believers to pray for on another in the verses thirteen through fifteen of the fifth chapter. According to the Bible prayer is a spiritual discipline that believers are expected to practice. The concept of prayer is seen throughout both the New and Old Testaments. Jesus taught about prayer, as well as the apostles and writers of the New Testament. Prayer is seen being practiced individually as well as corporately. Believers were exhorted to pray for others individually and corporately. In the end, it is safe to assume that prayer has always existed within small groups. Thus, prayer should be implementing and practiced within small groups of
