Experience plays a big role in the assessment process. Experienced clinicians would know what to look for during an evaluation such as structures and functions in an oral motor examination. In contrast, an inexperienced clinician would not know what measurements to do for both structures and functions. Also, an experienced SLP would know what to look for in a voice and fluency examination. Language Tests With Adults With Aphasia by Newton, Acres, and Bruce, results revealed that scores from a paper-based language test were highly correlated with those from the computerized tests; however, the computerized test scores were lower. Also, the time it took to complete the test in both cases were the same. Some clients felt more comfortable taking the computerized test, but overall the paper-based test was more preferred.
