Southern culture has been and remains generally more socially conservative than that of the rest of the country. Because of the central role of agriculture in the southern economy, society remained stratified around close nit communities. These communities often developed strong attachment to their churches as the primary community center. This southern lifestyle focuses on living a simple and slow lifestyle. This southern lifestyle is far from the typical stereotypes that are assumed about the South. Rural, working-class Southern whites are often the focus of representations of the South. When one thinks of the South, he or she see images of open land, the beauty of nature, and the ideal lifestyle. This lifestyle is lived by those who enjoy the small things in life and who truly cherish the meanings of life. To me, being southern means to live a slow simple life and to focus on the important things in life.

This redneck stereotype is portrayed by the news and in movies so the southern states get negative thoughts. “While rural.
