Slim And Lennie

Slim and George walk into the bunk house together and start talking. Slim finally asks the question everyone is thinking and George just starts telling him everything like they were friends for a long time. I guess it’s just Slim’s influence on people.

George tells him about how he knows Lennie’s aunt Clara and how he always used to tease Lennie, until Lennie almost died. The story is that George told Lennie to jump into a river and Lennie simply did what George said. Lennie was being pulled under the water by the current and almost drowned when George “saved” him. Lennie was really thankful for that because he just doesn’t get that it was George’s fault. It appears that George is probably traveling with Lennie because he’s feeling guilty,

More people come to the bunkhouse when Curley rushes in looking for his wife. When he hears that Slim’s at the barn he storms off thinking his wife and Slim have an affair.

Lennie starts begging to hear about their dream again so George tells him. Candy overhears their conversation and asks if he could tag along. He tells them that he has some money aside he could put into this plan and that he is gonna get some more by the end of the month. He tells them that he knows the boss is going to kick him out once he is too old to do anything and that he won’t find another job as an old man without a hand. They take him.

Other guys come back and there’s some kind of a fight between Slim and Curley. Slim is really mad at Curley about accusing him of sleeping with Curley’s wife. Curley’s apologizing and then Carlson calls him a coward. Curley notices that Lennie is smiling and Curley starts punching him. He doesn’t do anything until George tells him to. Lennie catches Curley’s hand and starts crushing it.

When he lets go of his hand, Slim persuades Curley not to say anything and they cover it up, then Carlson takes Curley to the
