In the article Sleeping with the Enemy: Wikipedia in the College Classroom, faculty member Dr. Cullen J. Chandler of Lycoming College, decided to ban the use of Wikipedia entirely for papers in his course. Other faculty members of the college responded to this ban in stating, “Why rush to ban the single most impressive collaborative intellectual tool produced at least since the Oxford English Dictionary.” This spectrum intrigued Chandler to reconsider his approach to the place of Wikipedia in his class, and from there consulted with Assistant Professor Alison Gregory to construct a beneficial assignment.
