Is sleep paralysis a serious problem? Sleep researchers believe sleep paralysis is when your body is not moving smoothly threw the sleeping stages. Sleep paralysis usually occurs one out of two times, if it occurs when you are falling asleep it is called hypnagogic or predormital sleep paralysis if it occurs when you are waking up it is called hypnopompic or postdormital. When your body slowly falls asleep it gets comfortable, you may not notice but if you try to stay up you will feel like you can't move or talk. While sleeping your body alternates between REM [rapid eye movement] and NREM [non rapid eye movement]. With REM and when you are going threw NREM your sleep can last 90 minutes. You immediately wake up from your sleep but can not move a muscle in your body. It is like you’re tied down to your bed and can't move at all the only thing that can move are your eyes. Sometimes people feel or can sense a paranormal figure in there room but not everyone who has sleep paralysis gets those feelings.
Out of every 10 people 4 will have sleep paralysis. This common condition is noticed in the teen years but that doesn't mean just teens have it, men and women of any age can have or get sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis can run in the family. It may be happening to you . If you find yourself not able to move for a few seconds or even a few minutes you might just have sleep paralysis.
Treating any underlying conditions such as narcolepsy may help if you can't sleep well. Treating sleep paralysis won't be good because you will depend on the treatment. More than depending on your body, your cells, and your muscles but that's just my opinion. You could try a treatment that might work and you can maybe gain a few hours of sleep which will pretty good
