A. Your worried eyes begin to scan the room and your door slowly creeps open. You begin to panic and you’re of breath and start panting for air.

So, what exactly is sleep paralysis? Well today I’m going to be talking about what it is, the science behind sleep paralysis, and what causes it and how to prevent it.
Body
I. Sleep paralysis can often be very frightening to some people and they often describe it as the “scariest experience” of their life.
A. The reason why it is so frightening is because your body is temporarily paralyzed. You can not move your arms, legs, or facial muscles.
B. Your eyes are still fully functioning though and you can see everything and you often hear noises (sleep paralysis- Overview and Facts n.p n.d, March,2018).
C. During sleep paralysis, you can have hallucations. Often times, these hallucinations feel malevolent (Stephanie Pappas, 2013). What I find very odd is that people sometimes experience the same hallucinations. There are three common ones.
1. The first one I'm going to be talking about is the "intruder." They may be able to hear or even actually see someone in the room with them.
